My name is Brian Walsby. Welcome to my site. I have been a drummer/artist/cartoonist for as long as I can remember (well over a quarter of a century). This website is a way to get some of the work that I have done (art wise) up in one place along with updates on other projects and music related things. I also have some really neat wares to peddle. So..welcome kids!

T SHIRTS

SHUDDER TO THINK X-FRENCH (T SHIRT)                                                             SEE DETAIL

Shudder To Think is a special band to me. Illustrating a t-shirt that does the band justice (for me as a listener) puts it up there with doing shirts for the Birthday Party, the Melvins, the Minutemen and other unique musical acts that are more of a universe instead of just a band. Either phase of the band, the original quartet leading up to their final Dischord release "Get Your Goat" or the (featured in this shirt) “Pony Express Record" second version of the band are both (to this very day) mighty. The music and ideas just don't date at all. I can't even lump them into any sort of scene or decade because they seemed to exist outside of all of that, and I still think so to this day. I would like to thank STT vocalist/songwriter Craig Wedren for letting me and Charles do this. We are stoked.

BIG STAR IN THE STREET (T SHIRT)                                                                       SEE DETAIL

I discovered Big Star and their "Number One Record" from my very first girlfriend decades ago. Since then, I have loved all three Big Star records as well as the Chris Bell "I Am The Cosmos" album. I can always listen to Big Star... anytime. Recently; while on tour with the Melvins, I had the opportunity to visit Ardent Studios (in Memphis) and meet Big Star drummer Jody Stephens. He gave us all a tour. I was prudent enough to give Jody one of my Melvins parodies. This one was of the band (Melvins) impersonating Big Star on their "Radio City" album cover. That led to this: a rendering of the original band (Stephens, Bell, Andy Hummel and of course Alex Chilton) with the trademark star behind them. This drawing is based on a photograph taken by Michael O’Brien. People seemed to dig our design; now it’s on a shirt! Thanks to Addison at Ardent and Jody for making this happen, me and Charles are very excited to have the honor of doing a Big Star shirt. We hope the fans of Big Star like it as well. -Brian Walsby
